THE MUSICAL JOURNEY OF SUZANNE LETTING
FROM PASSION TO PRODUCTION
Suzanne Letting, known by her artist’s name Suni (pronounced Soo-ni), carries a deep and personal connection to her music, inspired by her family members who are no longer with her. This heartfelt tribute through her stage name underscores her artistic journey and dedication to music. Residing in Suffolk, United Kingdom, Suni's story is one of passion, perseverance, and continuous evolution.
EARLY MUSICAL INFLUENCES:
From the tender age of four, Suni's life was steeped in music. Her early years were filled with the sounds of musical hit programs on television and radio, thanks to a family that cherished a diverse range of genres. Growing up in the vibrant musical landscape of the 1960s, she was influenced by icons like Cliff Richard, Buddy Holly, Billy J Kramer, The Beatles, Cilla Black, Dusty Springfield, and Dionne Warwick. The rich tapestry of her musical exposure extended through the decades, embracing artists like Jean Michel Jarre, Mike Oldfield, Barry White, Kate Bush, Celine Dion, and Whitney Houston. Classical influences from Russell Watson and the musicals of Andrew Lloyd Webber also played a significant role in shaping her eclectic taste.
THE JOURNEY INTO MUSIC PRODUCTION:
Despite her lifelong love for music, it wasn't until 2019 that Suni began to explore her musical talents seriously. After years of running a business, she decided it was time to delve into music production. Her involvement with the internet Radio Station, Spectrum On Air, a radio station where she is a Presenter, with her global attraction show Let’s Get It On which is regularly ranked in the top 10 on MixCloud charts; spurred her desire to understand the intricacies of music creation. Suni's journey into music began with the poetry she had written in 2000, published by the International Society of Poetry, which she envisioned setting to music. The advancements in technology by 2021 enabled her to realize this dream, marking the birth of Suni Music. Her music video show of Let’s Get It On is now being streamed on the global TV platform www.xptv1.com soon to be also streamed on www.rockafellastv.com in California. Reaching over 2million viewers.
DEVELOPING HER CRAFT:
Suni's foray into music in 2019 involved learning the fundamentals of music production, vocal delivery, mastering, and live performances. Crafting her voice to become an instrument that touches the hearts and souls of listeners has been a central focus. Initially daunted by live performances due to self-doubt about her vocal abilities, Suni worked tirelessly to improve, leading to well-received live shows. This journey was bolstered by the support and encouragement of her peers in the music industry.
COLLABORATIONS AND SUPPORT:
Steve Mainwaring of One Of The Crowd has been a significant collaborator for Suni, offering immense support and encouragement. Additionally, veteran musician Terry Batt, known for his work with top pop icons of the 70s and 80s and currently performing with The SunRayz, has provided invaluable coaching on her live performances. Batt's rigorous standards have helped Suni hone her skills, ensuring she delivers performances of the highest quality.
ARTISTIC PHILOSOPHY AND ADVICE:
Suni's philosophy on music creation emphasizes authenticity. She believes that an artist's work must be true to themselves, even if it doesn't appeal to everyone. This belief was reinforced by her interview with Billy J Kramer, who shared that his focus is on the joy of making music rather than its reception. Suni advises aspiring musicians to create for the love of music and strive to produce the best work possible.
EXPLORING DIVERSE GENRES AND FUTURE PROJECTS:
Suni's musical tastes are diverse, spanning from the classics of Cilla Black and Dusty Springfield to modern genres like House, Electronic Synthwave, Retrowave, R&B, Soul, and Funk. She is still discovering her definitive sound, driven by listener preferences. Her upcoming album, inspired by the heady atmosphere of Ibiza, is a testament to her experimental spirit. The first track, "Ibiza Madness," is already out on Spotify, alongside her previous release, a cover of Cilla Black's "Anyone Who Had a Heart."
MEMORABLE RELEASES: Some of Suni's notable releases include "The Love Of A Woman," "Looking Back," "Heart Of Stone," "Manhattan Moonlight," and "Lost 2020 - Parkway Party," a track that brought her neighbourhood together during the lockdown. "Aqua Dawn" showcases her affinity for water, and the "I Am Connected" EP explores themes of DNA and ancestral connections.
THE INDIE ARTIST'S STRUGGLE: As an independent underground artist, Suni acknowledges the challenges of gaining recognition in an industry dominated by well-supported artists. Nevertheless, she remains grateful for the audience she has and the appreciation for her work. At her age, she considers herself fortunate to have listeners who enjoy her music, a sentiment that fuels her continued passion and dedication. Suni's musical journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, the importance of authenticity, and the joy of creating art that resonates with both the artist and the audience.
